Not sure this plan will work…

The following video speaks about the “benefits” of withdrawing funding from police departments. This was spurred by the terrible action of a Minneapolis police officer and the death of George Floyd. This report states a rather difficult to believe idea that getting rid of police departments will somehow free up funding for programs for under-served communities and have no effect on crime.

I have not heard of anyone arguing that the killing of George Floyd was justified. The police officer involved has been arrested and will surely spend the rest of his life in prison. Police brutality is a question of training and tactics. In some circumstances, a violent response is all that is left for an officer to do in addressing a criminal act. These decisions are instant and it is difficult to make the right decision every time – no matter how much training you have received. Do you think you could do better? If so, I would encourage you to go to a simulation range and see how you do. Engage Virtual Range is located in Medina Ohio and allows you to test your decision making skills in a non-deadly virtual environment.

As for de-funding the police? Well, I think this is rather short sighted and dangerous. If this becomes a trend, law abiding citizens will be left to defend themselves without the hope of the police ever arriving. Wait a second…At present, victims of crime usually see police only after the crime has long since been committed. This is not a jab at police – it is a statement of fact. The police do a great job of dealing with the criminal element. They also respond as fast as they possibly can. If you think that police aren’t needed, you are truly privileged. You must live in area that doesn’t have much crime. Good for you. What about the people that live in crime ridden areas? THESE are the people that are most at risk of not having police. They will have to defend themselves without police responding. Eventually, if the trend continues, YOU will need to be your own defender as well.

To be blunt – even today with police being fully funded – YOU are your first defense. Gun ownership, as well as training has become more and more important for everyone. I hope you do realize that “nobody is coming to save you.” YOU must defend yourself, at least until the police arrive. Now is as good a time as any to start the process of becoming a conscientious firearm owner. Check out our CLASSES today.

Be safe, stay healthy, and I hope to see you at the range.
